Winter hike at the Mitterwegl |
| (Winter) The MITTERWEGL is cleared of snow throughout the winter for pedestrians. It is located in the west of the town center. You will find the entrance if you are in front of the Hotel Hubertus and look towards south-west. You will cross the Dürnbachwald and reach the district Venedigerblick or the Rossberg. There is also the possibility to extend the walk up to the Thürnerstube, which is located at the ski slope from the Wildkogel. You have to turn towards north-east. | (Winter) 1.) On Tuesday and Friday the Wildkogelbahn runs continuously until 6:30 pm. With the longest floodlit toboggan run in the world (14 km!) the Urlaubs-Arena is a record-breaking holiday highlight. The toboggan run is lit daily on the entire length until 10 pm. (Winter and summer) Above the Alpengasthof Rechtegg an alpine trail branches off to Steineralm - a trail with no major climbs. About at the half of the road you will find the Steineralm chapel. It used to be a little deeper in the ditch on a power spot, where the prays of people became truth, especially the prays by women for fertility. After a walk of about an hour, the Steineralm is achieved. Alternative (Summer): From the top station of the Wildkogelbahnen heading to the west in the Dürnbachtal. Walk across a peaceful and beautiful hiking trail. |

| (Summer) The Wildkogel is also known for its long and smooth single trails. You have the option of either the shuttle service of the Wilkogelbahnen, or swing yourself into the saddle and follow one of the many trails to the Wildkogel. If you have reached the top, enjoy the view and just get ready for an adrenalin-increasing downhill. The Wanderweg to Steineralm can be ridden as a single trail (RobJ single trail), but only recommended for very experienced and technically-minded drivers.
